Operation:
Cheese Heist

Experience the thrill of being a mouse in VR
Project Overview
VR is an immersive platform which plays like no other gaming console. We wanted to make full use of its' uniqueness to provide a truly memorable experience to players. We carefully considered the sound and light design as well as the general aesthetic direction to walk the line between suspense and horror very carefully.
My Contributions
This proof of concept was the work of a team of 4 students in a VR Game course in the faculty of architecture in the Technion.
My teammates were Christina Kotov, Marcelo Goycochea and Yehuda Mertzbach.
Step into the miniature shoes of M-786, a mouse operative going through a training simulation to prepare for the biggest mission of his life. You will have to climb, crawl, stop and drop as you will traverse an obstacle course through the house of Dolores, a genius scientist who has grown bitter in her old age.
After years of research, trial, and error she had engineered the world’s most nutritious cheese with the aim of stopping world hunger. However, after being denied a promotion, she has retreated from society, taking her life-saving cheese with her.
Many mice have tried and failed to retrieve the cheese, falling prey to Dolores’s vicious cats and terrifying bird, but that hasn’t deterred the F.M.O (Federal Mouse Organization) from training more and more recruits in the hopes of one day stealing the cheese and saving the world from starvation.

An early story board depicting the points of view and lighting atmosphere we wanted to explore.

Different every-day items found around the house prove to be challenges and opportunities for a small mouse.

A general overview of the game model in Unity.

We drew inspiration from Pixar movies such as A Toy Story and A Bug's Life

Giving the player a sense of scale was one of our focus points.

The player needed to balance speed and stealth in order to bypass all three cats in the house.

We strived to transform a mundane environment like a simple apartment into a thrilling adventure.

The character models were not created by us and were downloaded from public domain sites.

A short gameplay highlights video.

As a possible expansion, my team and I built a hub space for the game where the player can return to between missions.

The concept was a mouse cage with elements that humanize the player character as well as add some humor to the game.

Another idea was to add gadgets to the game that give the player more abilities, such as a speed boost, grappling and seeing hidden elements.
